Air Fryer French Toast

I’m an equal opportunity French toast maker. I love it baked in the oven, cut into French toast sticks, with banana or pumpkin in the batter, as French toast casserole … and I really love it when it’s easy. This recipe, which gets made in the air fryer with less than 5 minutes of cooking time, is one of our favorites.

We love using this method to make French toast sticks, since they fit so well in the air fryer we have, and also because they’re a fun breakfast for the kids.

This breakfast option works well with a side of fruit and maple syrup—or you can do nut butter, yogurt, or applesauce as a dip. Anything goes, so customize it as you like.

Ingredients You Need

Here’s a look at what you need to make this easy French Toast recipe so you know what to pick up at the store and have on hand.

Ingredients for Air Fryer French Toast on countertop.
  • Wheat bread: Sandwich or loaf, or you can use another type you like such as Texas toast or challah. It’s better if it’s a little bit stale or sturdy.
  • Eggs: I use large eggs in this recipe.
  • Milk: Any type of milk works. I use whole milk, as I like the richness, but use what you prefer. Nondairy milk can work, too.
  • Vanilla extract: I typically use pure vanilla extract, as I like the flavor, but imitation can work if that’s what you have.
  • Cinnamon: A nice dose of cinnamon adds flavor to this French toast recipe.
  • Maple syrup and diced fruit (optional): Add any dips, toppings, or sides that your family enjoys.
