Looking for an easy Easter art project? This one is a simple gem.

Let’s talk Easter projects: necessary? No. Fun? You betcha. Who doesn’t love a good holiday moment, or at the very least, a theme?! This easy Easter art project checks so many boxes for me: I’m so into it.

Shout out to Mandisa from Happy Toddler Playtime. She created a similar activity years ago that I fell in love with.

Love an activity that takes TIME

I don’t want an activity to take me time to set up, but I love an activity that takes my kids time to complete.

And this giant, detailed painting project takes TIME.

When I set this up for my daughter (6), we worked together to come up with the design. She was so excited to take on this challenge (and I was so excited to redirect her attention onto something other than following me around the house while I worked).

Let’s talk supplies for this Easter art activity

I cut off a big ol’ chunk of kraft paper and drew something-like an egg shape (don’t look too close). I added all sorts of details and designs – anything I could come up with for my sweet kiddo to paint over in peace.

ZOMG WHY IS IT ON THE WALL?

I appreciate your concern for my walls, but we are all good. My daughter is trained to stay in the paper lines, she has a wet wash cloth for drips, and has done things like this for YEARS.

WHY?

Because I’m a blogger and I need to take a nice photo. You can do this on the ground, table, or outside – wherever you feel best. We feel best here (and it let’s be get that nice action photo for you).

A few other tips for this project:

1. Put the paint in a muffin tin. It just rocks as a paint holder.
2. Use colors that “go together” so you don’t end up with mud. I did pink, blue, purple, and white.
3. Give your child a wet wash cloth so they can clean hands, feet, drips, and spills as they need to. Kids like this autonomy.

This Easter art activity can work for so many ages with just a little tweak

I am in love with any activity that can work for littles and bigs – and this Easter activity does just that!

With toddlers and preschoolers: make a simpler design on your egg. Bring this to their level rather than skipping it until their older.

With big kids: Level this up! Add intricate details and hard patterns to color (like a checker board). This can work for the big kids next to their littlest of siblings.

It doesn’t take much to set this activity up… but it does take up time

My daughter painted at this on and off for most of the afternoon.

It gave her something extra to do, a bonus option, something she was working on all her own. It filled the time and made a long day go a little faster for us.
