Wait. What is crayon resist art?
Crayon resist art is what happens with watercolor meets wax crayons. The wax from the crayon will not play nice with the watercolor paint and (wait for it) resists it.
The name isn’t the most clever but it’s an accurate description.
In this activity (and other times when I do crayon resist art), I like to use a white crayon on white paper to let the crayon resist art activity have a little air of mystery.
That’s what we are going for in this Easter version.
Let’s talk supplies for this Easter crayon art activity:

And now the step by step
On your white paper, draw the outline of an egg. It doesn’t need to be perfect – only your favorite fan will be seeing this, and you’re basically Michelangelo to them.
With a white crayon, press hard to add designs to your egg. You may need to trace over each line more than once – pushing hard to leave as much wax behind on the paper.
This is the white crayons moment to shine. Don’t let it down.
Crack open the watercolors and get to painting
Let me tell you: it really is magically as kids paint over the egg outline and the white crayon design takes shape.
There’s nothing quite like it – and kids love it.
You can do designs, or letters, shapes, or messages. It’s pretty much the coolest.
Let your child create their own
Part of the fun of this activity is letting your child make their own “hidden pictures.”
Set out the white paper and the white crayons, and let your child take the lead. This is such a fun activity for kids to make for their parent.
