Here’s what makes this Giant Christmas Art Activity so special

Aside from my clear artistic gifts, this activity was/is such a hit with my kids because: it’s personal.

Yes, personal.

Kids like things that are personalized and special, and that’s exactly what you can do when you make this activity for your kids.

You can set this up however they want it to be.

My kids gave a whole lot of input on the items they wanted my to draw and color.

It was personal because it was parent-made-art (which really is so special to kids) and they were a part of creating it.

It’s instantly more special than any other coloring page they’ve ever done before.

Oh and don’t forget that it’s also HUGE!

Sometimes coloring books drive me a bit nuts because young kids just don’t have the dexterity or motor skills to color those intricate pages. Coloring books are too challenging and set kids up for failure.

That’s why when I make my kids this personalized art activity I make it GIANT too.

And I simplify the drawings (not that I could do much more detailed but still…). I make sure this is coloring that they can be successful at.

  • Large sized
  • Limit the detail
  • Let kids pick what to draw

Roll out your butcher paper onto the floor or table. I added a little tape to the edges to keep things still for my kids.

I grabbed my Sharpie and let the kids shout out ideas for what they wanted on their Christmas coloring page.

This was a full-day activity and we loved it

My kids (3 and 4.5) loved this. They stayed for about 30 minutes coloring away before leaving to play something else.

I left the paper and the markers out and they bounced back to the art later in the day.

It was the perfect activity to do throughout the day, whenever they needed it.

Solid 10/10 activity for us – highly recommend

The Giant Christmas Art Activity – though small in supplies and light in set up – was the perfect activity for a slow December morning.

We absolutely loved doing this activity, and might just make it a yearly tradition.

Think you’ll try making some Christmas art?
